Police and fire trucks were on hand to respond to a fire that broke out in the property just above Lindo’s in Warwick this afternoon.

Lindo’s store manager Zach Moniz first noticed smoke blowing across the parking lot, telling the Bermuda Sun: “I don’t know what caused it but I know that it’s most likely a boat that’s on fire. It would belong to Alec Swan, who owns the house and happens to be a divisional officer for the fire department.

“Around 4pm we noticed smoke in the parking lot. It’s not uncommon for Alec to have controlled burns of vegetation and stuff, so I didn’t think too much of it.

“But then I saw orange flames, and I knew that wasn’t normal so I went to the roof and checked and there was a massive fire, so I called the fire department.”
