The International Conference on Cyberlaw, Cybercrime & Cyber Security welcomed more than 1,000 participants, including Bermuda’s Minister of National Security, Michael Weeks. During the conference, all participants commented on a variety of topics, but most of them were related to the increasing need for further and more effective cybersecurity measures.
Michael Weeks, who attended the event virtually, also mentioned the Bermuda Cybersecurity Governance Board. According to his words, it consists of 12 people, some of whom are from the Government, and others are from non-Government units. Weeks also told the audience that the chairman of the board is an industry expert.
For those who were not familiar with the panel, Michael Weeks explained that its main objective is to implement the National Cyber Security Strategy. The latter was authorized four years ago. Weeks also stated that the need for further cyber security is desperately needed at this time and shared that he hopes that the Cybersecurity Act will be passed as soon as possible.
